Explore the best wine-growing areas along the Saxon Wine Route on the Saxon Wine Hiking Trail and choose either individual legs, circular walks or go for the whole distance.
The Saxon Wine Hiking Trail was launched in 2004 and lets hikers explore the region’s best wines along the Saxon Wine Route between Pirna and Diesbar-Seußlitz. You will be enchanted by beautiful vineyards, traditional wine cellars, historic towns, sophisticated architecture and inspiring nature along the river Elbe between Dresden and Pillnitz. The picture-perfect scenery featuring castles nestling in the vineyards along the Elbe, the so-called “ Blue Wonder“ bridge, one of Dresden’s landmarks as well as the city’s impressive skyline will delight. And let’s not forget, the Saxon Wine Hiking Trail provides not only numerous special treats for your eyes but for your palates, too.
The Saxon Wine Hiking Trail is clearly signposted throughout and marked with a ruby coloured grape, the Saxon Wine Route’s logo.
The route runs past vineyards and baroque castles, terraces, historical town centres and stairs leading to vantage points. The trail includes asphalt sections, cobblestone as well as overgrown paths and stairs.
