3 p.m.

Stop by the town’s tourist information to plan your stay in this lovely town on the Spree river, book guided city tours, get tickets for events or tips where to find unusual souvenirs.



3.30 p.m.

Head to Bautzen’s historic Old Town for small and charming cafés, such as “Café Goliath”, where guests can enjoy homemade cakes, a cup of coffee or espresso or a glass of wine.



4.30 p.m. Bautzen enjoys a great location on the Spree river and the Spreetal is perfect for a leisurely ramble: Walk up the Protschenberg hill for great views on Ortenburg Castle. On your way down, you’ll pass the Hammermühle mill. Then walk back across the Spree for great views on the Nicolai Tower.




11 a.m. “Museum Bautzen”, the local museum, is home to unique works of art and historic treasures. Marvel at exhibits that are in demand by international museums as far away as New York and Tokyo.



12.30 p.m.

Lunchtime! Choose from contemporary and rustic restaurants as well as venues offering special medieval meals or Sorbian specialities. 



2 p.m.

A guided city tour of the historic Old Town, along old fortifications and through narrow streets, is an entertaining way to learn all there is to know about Bautzen’s 1,000-year-old history and many sights.

Hungry? It’s time then to pick and choose from the town’s restaurants, offering regional Saxon and Sorbian cuisine or even medieval fare. And you can also try the famous Bautzen mustard to add a bit of spice to your dinner!

Venture beyond Bautzen‘s historic walls to Bautzener Stausee, a reservoir with a beach bar. There’s also a crazy golf and high ropes course.

Enjoy a tasty dinner in one of Bautzen’s restaurant to round off your day.





11 a.m. Before leaving Bautzen, climb up one (or a few) of the town’s famous towers, such as Alte Wasserkunst or Reichenturm. From here, you can enjoy gorgeous views of the region and as far as the Lusatian Highlands.
