Established more than 730 years ago in the picturesque Muldental near Grimma, the town Hoefgen enchants their visitors with its wide offer when it comes to experience the beauty of nature in a whole new way.
The town´s highlight is a four-sided courtyard dated back to the 17th century, which forms the diversified cultural center. Right behind the monument smithy, you´ll find an artist workshop, a gallery, as well as a social-cultural center, and a hotel. Just a few steps away, visitors are invited to drop by for a visit at the magnificent landscape garden with its astonishing viewing tower, a ship mill, which has been redesigned as a technical demonstration and research facility, or what about a cup of coffee and a delicious dish in the restaurant? Exhibitions themed on contemporary art, concerts, readings, discussions in the atelier, tradition-steeped festivals – it´s all about cultural events taking place throughout the whole year. Most of the time, the enchanting landscape plays a significant part in the events. Many offers are especially focused on the interests of kids and young adults, as well as families.
The "Denkmalschmiede" (monument forge) is a cultural institution in the area of Leipzig for the funding of art, culture and science with gallery, atelier, artist house, park, ship-mill.
