If characters from fairy tales and legends scurry through the torch-lit darkness, crafts are offered and contemplative music can be heard, then Christmas spirit has taken hold of Saxony's castles and palaces - as in the Dresden Castle, in Schloss Wesenstein Castle, Scharfenstein Castle or Nossen Castle, the fortress of Königstein, the castle of Oybin and in Wackerbarth Castle. Moritzburg Castle turns into a fairytale palace. With the special exhibition "Three Wishes for Cinderella" in the historic castle rooms, which had served as film set, the cult fairy tale film becomes alive until long after Christmas (2020 unfortunately cancelled).
Unfortunately, Christmas time will probably be very different this year. As we are not able to assess whether Christmas events at Saxon castles and palaces will take place, and if so, which ones and when, we are all the more happy to bring you the magical Saxon Christmas atmosphere to your home, at least virtually, and set the mood for the up-coming festive time of year.
Further information on Christmas events in Saxony's castles and palaces can be found in an overview on this site and at www.schloesserland-sachsen.de
