This route takes hikers from Bad Düben to Bad Schmiedeberg and through the ‘Hammerbachtal’ valley where, with a bit of luck, the results of beaver activities can be spotted. The ‘Dübener Heide’ heathland and moated castle of Reinharz are further highlights. From Bad Schmiedeberg, take the bus back to you where you started.

This family hiking trail connects the spa towns of Düben and Bad Schmiedeberg and leads through the ‘Hammerbachtal’ valley and the nature park ‘Dübener Heide’. Hammerbach creek is, fingers crossed, the place where to spot beaver lodges and gnawed tree trunks. In Eisenhammer, don’t miss a demonstration of the old craft of charcoal burning which is still being practiced here. The moated castle of Reinarz and the Kaiser Wilhelm Tower are further highlights.
