The festival "Karussell - Zeitgenössische Positionen russischer Kunst" in HELLERAU - Europäisches Zentrum der Künste offers for the first time in Germany the opportunity to experience Russian artists* of the younger generation in an extensive showcase from 10 to 25 January. In their theatre, performance and music projects, including eleven German premieres, they present a mosaic-like image of the Russian present. "The diversity of forms, aesthetics, stories and spectator situations brings contemporary Russia close to us from an artistic perspective. Karussell shows which questions and themes move the artists*from the country. Karussell informs about the underground and action art scene in Russia's tense political situation. Karussell asks how to remember the Soviet past and the role that art plays in the public sphere today.
HELLERAU presents a total of around 150 artists*, cultural actors* and scientists* from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Kazan, Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don with their current works. The festival offers formats for the artists* and the public to get to know each other, but also between Russian and German artists* and an interested specialist audience.
