More details of the place of event

For Goethe's epic "Hermann and Dorothea", to which the poet prince was probably inspired in 1795 at the spring in Bad Elster, the Royal Saxon Horticultural Inspector Paul Schindel wrote a unique
Forest landscape - in the Bad Elster forest park - the nature theatre as the first of its kind in Saxony. Thus, in addition to the Goethe Festival, various events, in particular music and spoken theatre, were regularly staged here until 1952 with great public appeal, before the Nature Theatre then fell into a "Sleeping Beauty sleep".

Spectacularly reopened in 2007 with the opera "Der Freischütz", numerous inspiring events of various genres for young and old have been taking place again at this "clearing of culture" between May and September. In 2018, the over 100-year-old complex was completely modernised and significantly extended and now guarantees the greatest possible independence from the weather with a mobile spectator roof.
