The Dead Sea is not only the deepest point on the earth's surface, but also confronts people with a hostile environment. And yet - over many thousands of years people settled here, built settlements, fortresses and places of worship. For centuries they used the natural caves as places of refuge, leaving behind everyday objects of everyday life as well as valuable objects.
Places like Jericho, Machaerus, Qumran and Masada are world famous.
Living at the Dead Sea presents this unique cultural landscape along the theme paths Nature & Livelihood, Wellness, Mobility, Settlements & Refuges, War & Peace and Cult & Religion. The exhibition also provides insights into the history of archaeological research and unique textile finds.
