The GRASSI Museum for Applied Arts Leipzig presents as of 21.11.2019
in the exhibition "History in Fashion. 1500 years of embroidery in fashion" the variety
of handicraft embroidery. About 150 objects from the
own collections, including a large number of textiles which have never before been
were open to the public. The show also presents works by
Textile artists and young talents. Works from Coptic period and
Medieval, rich embroidery of the baroque and 19th century and current
Works thus enter into dialogue with one another. Traditional craftsmanship and
Material usage as well as digital techniques and new materials are
"to discover their fascinating use."
From 1st July 2020 textile designer Magdalena Sophie Orland is every wednesday from 3pm to 5pm locally in order to show new techniques. It is possible to bring along own textiles to grade them up.
