In the new permanent exhibition "Breakthrough of Modernity". From Impressionism to Expressionism to Bauhaus, paintings by Max Beckmann, Lovis Corinth and Paula Modersohn-Becker to Willi Baumeister, Kurt Schwitters and Fritz Stuckenberg are on display. The presentation is expanded to include works by Alexej von Jawlensky and Gabriele Münter, who experienced an extremely stimulating and productive artistic period in Murnau in 1908 and found new expressive means of expression. They received essential impulses from the Upper Bavarian reverse glass and folk art painting, of which specimens from the Gunzenhauser Collection are on display for the first time.
