30th Saxon Mozart Festival 2021

01.05.2021 - 09.05.2021

This Mozart festival is hosted each year by the Mozart Society and represents an annually recurring musical highlight in Central Germany. The Saxon Mozart Festival takes place from 17 to 26 May 2019. The Saxon Mozart Festival takes place from 17 to 26 May 2019 and carries the motto "Freedom - Evolution I".

The French Revolution of 1789 shook the whole of Europe and led to profound changes in societies, states, cities and people - the Peaceful Revolution of 1989 brought freedom for the unification of East and West, breaking political and social rigidities and providing opportunities for many new beginnings.

Mozart was a fervent advocate of the Enlightenment and still learned about the French Revolution in Vienna. It is exactly this Zeitgeist that - combined with Chemnitz, a city with a turbulent history full of change and a legacy - is reflected in the Saxon Mozart Festival 2019 with the motto "Evolution I - Freedom" and the prelude to a three-year cycle 2019 Evolution I - Freedom / 2020 Evolution II - Equality / 2021 Evolution III - Brotherhood forms.

In festive concerts, subtle chamber music, experiments and explorations, the Saxon Mozart Festival 2019 will feature a sound history of change and upheaval.
