Upper Lusatia with its heath and pond landscape, the UNESCO biosphere reserve, the World Heritage “Muskauer Park / Park Mużakowski” and the Lusatian Lake District, the national park of the Zittau Mountains and the medieval cities is equally attractive for culture enthusiasts, families and active vacationers. Cities like Zittau, Bautzen, Görlitz and Kamenz, half-timbered houses, the Great and the Small Zittau Lenten veil, the castle and monastery grounds of Berg Oybin or the 110-year-old steam train Zittau - Johnsdorf - Oybin are well worth a trip. The skill of the weavers, potters, gingerbread bakers and the traditional blueprinters can be marvelled at in show workshops. A vast network of cycle and hiking paths leads to the most beautiful excursion destinations - be it the Oberlausitzer Bergweg (Upper Lusatian Mountain Path) or the cycle paths Spree-Rad-Weg and Oder-Neiße-Radweg. Upper Lusatia is also home of the Sorbs and their customs. And Saxony's most beautiful baroque country estate can be found in this holiday region as well: the baroque castle Barockschloss Rammenau.
