  • How about a combination of leisurely hikes in beautiful scenery, magnificent Renaissance architecture and historic town centres, topped up with a good glass of wine? The towns on the Elbe and Mulde rivers are just the ticket for you then. Try Meissen, for example, which is considered the cradle of Saxony, the Renaissance beauty Torgau or Radebeul in the heart of the Saxon Wine Route.

  • If you are interested in Saxony's mining tradition, head to the Ore Mountains to explore charming towns such as Freiberg, Annaberg-Buchholz or Schwarzenberg.

  • For a great combination of culture and nature, Saxony’s Upper Lusatia region should be on your list where beautiful historic towns such as Kamenz, Bautzen, Zittau and Görlitz are surrounded by great nature providing lots of opportunities for cycling, hiking and water sports.
