Orchestras and Ensembles in Saxony

A journey through Saxony's music history is an encounter with great names and a rich musical heritage.

Between Plauen in the Southwest and Görlitz in the East, there exist sixteen theatres, ten of which being more than 100 years old. There have been choirs like the Dresden Kreuzchor and the Leipzig Thomanerchor and ensembles like the Gewandhaus Orchestra and the Saxon State Orchestra for more than 400 years.

There is an almost uncountable number of choirs, amateur ensembles as well as choir and music associations.
