Radebeul - A city to enjoy

Thrilling adventure between vineyard and Indian Museum

Radebeul has many charming faces. The city on the Elbe is considered the heart of the Saxon Wine Route between Diesbar-Seußlitz and Pirna. Winegrowing has a 400-year-old tradition in this listed landscape, being among Europe's most beautiful ones.

Small and big wine-growing estates like the County Winery Wackerbarth Castle or the Hoflößnitz Vineyard Museum continue that tradition. Coloured houses closely snuggle up to the steeply rising vineyard areas.

Adventure Winery Wackerbarth Castle

As first German wine-growing estate „Wackerbarths Ruh" Castle in Radebeul turns the production of wine and sparkling wine into a thrilling experience for visitors. The production of high-quality wine and sparkling wine are staged with light, pictures and music. A special adventure awaits you during the wine, sparkling wine and garden tours through the baroque grounds, highlighted by degustations.

Karl-May-Museum

The adventurous side of Radebeul is connected with the name Karl May. The adventure writer used to live here. Thus, Radebeul is the birthplace of Winnetou und Old Shatterhand, the heroes of his novels. The Karl-May-Museum preserves the legends. Each year in May, thousands of people celebrate their heroes with spectacular shows during the Karl-May-Festivities in the Lößnitzgrund.

Altkötzschenbroda

Radebeul shows the most beautiful countenance in Altkötzschenbroda - a historical village green with lovingly restored houses and a dense avenue of trees. This place near the Elbe cycle path with its galleries, handicrafts shops, wine bars and boutiques, hotels and pensions is a centre of attraction for locals and tourists and not only during the Radebeul autumn and wine festivities.

Tip: "Lößnitzdackel" (Lößnitz dachshund)
For 125 years, a steam train has been running through the romantic Lößnitzgrund: the Lößnitzdackel (Lößnitz dachshund). To this day it is puffing from Radebeul via Moritzburg to Radeberg in one hour. At 25 km/h you can enjoy the landscape with its vineyards in a very special way.
