Grimma - The pearl of the Mulde Valley
Less than twenty kilometres south-east of Leipzig lies a small paradise: Grimma.
People have always liked to settle where the Mulde has carved itself a beautiful floodplain in the valley, surrounded by lovely ridges of mountains. Visitors enthuse about the cultural monuments and the protected landscape.
Denkmalschmiede Höfgen
The "Denkmalschmiede Höfgen" with the studio and gallery Kaditzsch is a meeting point for innovative art and artists. The spectrum ranges from concerts and exhibitions to sensual sound experiences or art and audio walking tours in the Jutta-Park.
Most beautiful historic centre
Protected by the more than 400-metre-long well-preserved city wall with its delicate little houses and an exclusive view on the romantic shore of the Mulde 26 stately buildings from five periods catch the eye: the famous guildhall with the prominent Renaissance gable, old churches, the feudal castle, Nimbschen monastery, the water mill and ship-mill.
Museum Göschenhaus
Today, the "Göschenhaus" Museum is the meeting point for visitors from all over the world. The famous publisher of classic literature, Georg Joachim Göschen, worked here together with the proof reader Johann Gottfried Seume. Once, the great writers of German classic literature like Schiller and Körner were continually coming and going in quick succession in Gösche's summer residence.
