Museums and Memorials

In Saxony, museums of international standing and also museums, which are unique in the world, can be visited. One of the unique museums is the Mendelssohn-House in Leipzig - the only dwelling and last residence of the great composer that was preserved as a museum. Among the most famous museums are the State Art Collections Dresden. They are 450 years old. Many memorials in Saxony cultivate the musical heritage of composers like Richard Wagner, Robert Schumann, Carl Maria von Weber and Johan Sebastian Bach. Annual music festivals, taking place at authentic sites, are dedicated to their music - in their houses of birth, their dwellings and their summer and last residences.
